Spike - aid for the disabled
Spike by Exero Technologies is sports equipment for people with physical disabilities. One of the main goals of the project is to motivate and encourage physical activity outdoors by designing the same aesthetics and high-quality functionality as high-performance consumer sports gear. By doing this, we reduce stigmatization.
The project received the DOGA Award 2018
The jury's first reaction was, "I also want one like that", confirming that Spike is a successful product renewal in a category characterised by what we might call a bit of aesthetics derived from pure function. Here, the distinction between aids and sports equipment is eliminated in an elegant and form-fitting way, making Spike appealing to other user groups other than the disabled.
The project was done freelancing for Eggs Design, working together with their product design team.
